June 27, 2009 Fishing and Diving Trip

We went fishing and diving in seventy foot of water on Saturday the 27th day of June. During the dive trip we were searching for a lost anchor. There were alot of Goliath grouper up to 250 punds on the wreck along with a Cobia around 40 pounds and many many Mangrove snapper. After the dive we fished and caught 12 nice Mangrove snapper, 4 King fish and a few Jack. The seas were choppy two to three foot with scattered white caps. The water is warming up and the bait was abundant. It was a great day fishing with George, Jason and Captain Jordon on an eventful Southwest Florida fishing/diving expedition!

Boca Grande Tarpon Fishing June 13, 2009

I finshed Boca Grande with a buddy Captain Haley and Joe Fallucca on Sat the 13th of June. We left Naples at 3:30am and arrived in Boca Grande about 5:30am. We watched the sun rise as we cruised into Boca Pass for some serious tarpon fishing. Joe hooked a fish at 10:30am and handed the rod to me at 10:35am. I proceeded to fight the fish for another 45 minutes before we got broke off in a classic Boca Grande traffic jam! That was our best shot of landing a fish for today. We had other hookups but no fish to the boat. Dan's brother Captain Phil Haley landed a 190 pounder and I saw two tarpon get eaten by hammer head and bull sharks. One lady in the bow of another boat in a fighting chair almost got knocked out of the boat when a tarpon leaping out of water to escape a hugh hammer head shark hit her in the shoulder and landing on the other side of the boat. It was a crazy, exciting, and beautiful and well worth the effort! The below pictures show some of the action:

June 6, 2009 Tri County Fishing Tournament

I fished the Tri-County snook red trout tournament on Sat the 6th of June. At 5:30am it was already raining with a thunder head crashing and booming one mile to the south. It stayed like that on and off all day accross Estero Bay. The fishing was tough and everything was small. We had a shot at a 35 - 40 inch snook which promptly shot at the boat and spit the hook. That was our best opportunity on a brutally tough fishing day!

East Coast Fishing Trip May 29 - May 31, 2009

Our East Coast trip was on a HydroSport 36 footer with twin outboards. Stormy weather greeted us and became a companion. Trolling for dolphin produced one bull and one black fin tuma which escaped. The water was choppy but clear. Captain Jordan and Chad fished hard with me for two days and enjoyed every minute! The freighters in Government Cut were really hugh and very numerous. The import/export business must be doing very well! It was a great trip overall and the dolphin melted in our mouths!! The below pictures were taken during the trip and is typical of a charter on the East coast of Florida!
